Michelle Alias fell in love with Ballet and Contemporary dance at Northern California Dance Conservatory. She then attended Southern Methodist University and trained in their dance department under world-renowned faculty members from the Martha Graham Dance Company, Broadway, JAZZDANCE, New York City Ballet, Houston Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet.
After graduating, she moved back to Northern California where she was a faculty member, Ambassador Program Associate Director, and the NCDC Teacher Education Program Director at Northern California Dance Conservatory. She also served as a faculty member at The Conservatory of Dance and Performing Arts and choreographer for Ballet Rejoice. During this time, Michelle danced with Stranded Artists Movement Projects (Ballet Novita) and Pneuma Movement Contemporary Dance Company. She then served as Instructor of Dance at Justin-Siena High School in Napa, CA.
Michelle graduated with her MA in Education (Dance) from the Royal Academy of Dance and the University of Bath in 2018. She is the Administrative Director as well as a faculty member at NCDC. She is also a guest artist with Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement in Colorado and an independent choreographer and performer in Northern California. Michelle believes firmly in the transformative power of performance and choreography; she aims to foster self-sufficient, creative, and joyful artists by encouraging artistic exploration and emphasizing the individual thought process in technique.
