Laurie Kaden has pursued a finely integrated career as a teacher, choreographer, and performer. She began her career in her native Sacramento as a pupil of Marguerite Phares, and continued her training at the San Francisco Ballet School, the Milwaukee Ballet School, and the International Ballet Competition School in Jackson, MS. She received her BFA in dance from the North Carolina School of the Arts and earned an MA in dance history from the University of California, Riverside. Ms. Kaden danced with the Oakland Ballet, Riverside Ballet Theatre, and the Center Dance Company before transitioning her career to dance education and arts administration.
She has held positions of both Academy Director at Ballet Idaho in Boise, ID and Manager of Artistic Operations at Ballet BC in Vancouver, Canada. Ms. Kaden has taught around the world at private schools, colleges, and universities in California, England, Missouri, Taiwan, Virginia, Washington DC, and Washington. She has also served as an arts education panelist for the City of Alexandria Commission for the Arts as well as a grants review panelist for the Boise City Arts Commission.
